The bride wore a collar

You might not know it from looking at the expression of the bride (left), but last weekend’s wedding between Wrigley and Gucci was a smashing success.

Gucci, a 15-pound pug-terrier, was walked down the aisle by her owner, Christine Greco. Waiting for her was Wrigley, a 100-pound Rhodesian ridgeback -- maybe that explains the look on her face -- owned by LeeAnn Maurer.

The wedding, put on by Cody & Carl’s Blvd., a Barrington pet boutique, was a fundraiser for Animal House Shelter. More than 100 people and dogs attended, and more than $4,000 was raised for the shelter.

And they called it puppy love

Clear your calendars and get your tux out of mothballs.

Wrigley, a 100-pound Rhodesian ridgeback, and Gucci, a 15-pound pug-terrier, are getting hitched. And the public is invited.

The June 30 wedding is actually a fundraiser for Animal House Shelter, put on by Cody & Carl’s Blvd., a Barrington pet boutique.

Wrigley and his groomsmen will be in tuxedos, and Gucci and her bridesmaids will be in designer gowns. A limo will bring the wedding party to Cody & Carl’s Blvd., and ballerinas from the Barrington Dance Academy will serve as the flower girls. There will also be dancing and karaoke, a catered canine reception, canine goodie bags, readings by pet intuitive Denise Zak and more.

The event is free. Guests are invited to bring a dog gift to donate to Animal House Shelter. Or they can purchase an item to donate and receive 15 percent off. Don’t have a canine companion? There will also be an adoption day at the event.

The big day starts with a 1 p.m. ceremony at Cody & Carl’s Blvd., located in the Foundry of Barrington, 756 W. Northwest Highway (Rte. 14 and Hart Road).
